Summer Pictures
Home

We had a fun summer, but as always...it flew by quickly.  Kyla was in "summer camp" for the first 9 weeks.  There was a different theme each week and she just loved it. Brent taught so we didn't go too far for the 1st month or so.  For the 4th of July, we stayed local and visited with friends here.

I finally signed her up for swimming lessons this summer. She took them at Crawfish Aquatics for two weeks in June and did great.  She said she didn't like floating on her back but showed no fear doing everything else.

Thanks to the oil, we didn't get a beach trip in this summer...but we did make a visit north for two weeks towards the end of July/beginning of August. We hit a couple different destinations, both OH and PA, so we drove this time.  Between the two of us, we took a bunch of pictures which I've posted on the Picasa page HERE.

We went first to Columbus and stayed with the Stokes family for a few days.  Kyla loved hanging with her cousins, Colin and Donovan.  From there, we headed to Grammy's house where she had a surprise waiting...Aunt Heather and Brent's cousin/family were down from PEI!  They drove down and got in a few days before we did.  Grace and Gavin were a lot of fun for Kyla, there was always some type of activity or game going on with them. We were off to Eighty Four after that for visits with Mimi and Pee-pap....before heading to Dayton to visit the Lehmann's.  We covered a lot of ground in short two weeks!

Brent turned 40 while we were away and his mom had a gathering for him while we were there.  The birthday highlight came when we returned home, though....he ordered the gift he's been waiting a lifetime for, an authentic Steelers jersey:)

Kyla started 1st grade in August.  She is still in the French immersion program and obviously didn't forget much over the summer because she's jumped right back into it.  I can't believe how much these kids understand...she learns all her math, science and history completely in another language.  That seems like such an impossible task for us adults!

I can't close out summer pictures without including an update on the kitten.  When I last spoke of her, Bri was just a little peanut....but she has grown so much!  And what an awesome little personality....very sweet and loving...and ornery too!  This is her and one of the Barbies.  She likes to climb into the Barbie house and will sometimes "escape" with one.  She dragged this one into the living room to chew on her hair!

Brianna loves Kyla and it's mutual.....Kyla can't get enough of her!  They're always together.  She still sleeps with her each night, most nights in the bed.  She darts into the bathroom to join bath time as soon as she hears the water, perching herself on the side of the tub the whole time Kyla is in there.  Kyla's homework is very interesting to her as well. She lays there, batting at the pencil and causing distractions. Notice the water bottle.  When it comes to the kitchen countertop, she pushes her limits....so the squirt bottle is never very far!

Brianna and Chovie have gotten closer.  When they first met, Chovie kept her distance.  She still doesn't go out of her way to find the kitten but licking sessions like this happen all the time when they cross paths.  The kitten does all the licking, all over Chovie's head...and then it usually ends with some type of wrestling once she's gotten her fill.
