Visit to the Swamp Park
Home

I took Kyla for a visit to the Bluebonnet Swamp Park.  It was a nice day for it....warm, little breezy and not buggy at all!

A lot of it is still closed after the hurricane, but the lower loop and a portion of the boardwalk were open.  There were a lot of downed trees and debris, but the wildflowers, spiders and lizards were all out.

I got it in my head that we were going to collect things at the swamp to make another stepping stone, this time one for Gustav.  I overestimated the available space on the stone, though, so we mostly just used stuff from the pile in our yard.  We collected pecan shells, twigs, pinecones and acorns.

I had the camera in the backyard, so I couldn't pass up the opportunity to document the progress of my lemon tree.  The little thing is still only about 3 feet tall but it's holding on strong to those 6 lemons.  As you can see, they're kinda starting to turn yellow!  I know nothing about growing lemons...but I'm pretty sure they're either starting to ripen or slowly dying of malnutrition.  Time will tell....stay tuned!!!
