Kyla's Birthday Party
Home

Kyla turned 4 on Sept 2nd.  Her birthday party was planned for the Sunday of Labor Day weekend, which just happened to be the day before Gustav hit.  We went back and forth as to whether or not we should still have the party...and just decided to go for it.  It was a great time and we had a surprisingly big turnout, considering we figured most would blow it off with the storm coming.  It wasn't without a few glitches.  The party trays I ordered from Sprawlmart weren't available because they ended up closing down the store a day earlier than they had announced.

I'm 4!

Cake and kids

Luckily, I had picked up the cake and cupcakes the day before...and then Raising Cane's was still open and saved the day with mounds of chicken fingers!  We had plenty!

I rented a large inflatable water slide and that also didn't happen.  They called the night before to cancel delivery.  With the lower parishes starting to evacuate, they couldn't get here because of the interstate contraflow.  So, we set up the little pool as well as the water table and sprinkler.  The kids splashed around in that and still had a good time.

This was also an adult party too...with a keg and buckets of margaritas.  We're proud to say that both were hit pretty hard!

The party wrapped up about 8pm.  Although we felt like we could have gone on all night, there was a hurricane looming and we all still had to prepare.  We cleaned up and pulled everything inside and then Brent headed to the lab.  Kyla desperately wanted to open her gifts, so I made some time for that before hurrying her off to bed to finish my prep...which included mounds of laundry just in case we lost power (which, as you know, we did!)
