March Pictures

We were really bad with pictures last month.  I think I only took a handful or so, but I did manage to gather a little pile for this month.

Spring is in full force now.  We cleaned up our flower beds and uncovered a little surprise in one dark corner - the pumpkin we left to decay had sprouted and took root!  It didn't have a chance where it was so we transplanted it to a better location.  We also planted peppers, strawberries and replaced some herbs and flowers.

Here's Kyla posing with the pile of sprouts and our lemon tree in the background.  It looks twiggy and sad but has the potential for maybe 8 lemons this year!

Kyla still loves riding her own bike, but we just picked up a new trailer bike for those times when we want to ride farther.  So far, it's working out great! She thought it was going too fast her first time on, but that quickly passed.

She's been asking to take karate, so we started taekwondo last month in a "Little Ninja" program for 3-5 year olds.  We aim to go 2-3 times a week, and she's been having a blast. These are shots of her performing a collection of her kicks and punches.  You can see a little video her jumping around HERE.  She'll test for her yellow belt next week.

Other than that, as you can see...she's growing like a weed!  Where did my little baby go?!?  She starts kindergarten in the fall, and I know I'll really be asking that question then!  She still loves school and says her favorite center is painting and art.  Her eating hasn't changed much; she's still very picky....although I will say she's been more willing lately to at least try a bite.  We took her to her first Japanese/hibachi dinner.  I wish we had taken a camera because she truly had fun and was really cute reacting to the chef's antics.  I will add that she ate NONE of it, though.  It all came home in a box.

I think she's at a really fun age now.  She's always willing to play a board game with us.  She's not the best loser but does seem to love winning!  We regularly play Candy Land, Trouble, Chutes and Ladders and Go Fish.  Lately we've been into little scavenger hunts.  We do these in the backyard and on our walks.  We did one on our last zoo visit which was a lot of fun.  I downloaded it from the National Zoo but it fit with ours just great!  Here are a few shots of that visit.
