Baking Cookies
Home

Last weekend, Kyla and I did some holiday baking for our neighbors.  We made a few candies but had the most fun making stained glass cookies. She helped me every step of the way.  Daddy was around and took a lot of shots of us in action.

We made them with Jolly Ranchers and cheated by using regular premade sugar cookie dough.  First, we sorted the candies into colors.  She then helped me unwrap them...wanting to lick them all, of course!

Then we poured each color into a bag and went to work crushing them up.....

Crushing up the candies....too noisy!

We rolled out our sugar cookie dough to make frames for the candy.  This was a bit hard for Kyla, so I just had her make balls and snakes.  She loved filling the frames with candy and also loved watching them melt as they baked.

We tried making a tree and some ornaments, but they mostly came out looking like big blobs with "glass" in the middle.  She was still very proud of them and even ate a few herself!

By the way, the "tattoo" on her arm is a sea slug.  Brent put it on her, and she wouldn't let me wash it off all week!
