| Louisiana Earth Day Home We went downtown to take in the Louisiana Earth Day celebration. This is an annual event, but our first visit. We ran into friends while we were there...the Doerrler and Galvez families! There was a lot of stuff to do and see. We spent the whole afternoon there and of course, stuffed our faces with food...boudin balls, jambalaya, shrimp and fish. Kyla ate NOTHING....not even a fry. She did have a big sno-ball towards the end of the day and that really hit the spot! There were stages with music and although we didn't actually hang out for any of it, we enjoyed it as we walked through the displays. The kids area was very nicely done, several interactive areas, as well as crafts and coloring.

They had a pretty cool little "Black Bear Maze" set up under a huge live oak. We just walked through it but the kids could go through with a guide, wearing a "bear vest". There were stations with activities to go along with what the bears do through out the different seasons or how they handle people, etc. It was a really cute idea. The most popular activity was climbing the tree while you're there, though! |

| She also loved the Indian
display. There was a big teepee. I waited and waited for her
to come out so I could snap a shot, but no Kyla. When I peeked in,
she was just sitting in there on a little chair. Outside they had
tools and weapons and she had a lot of questions about them. It
was fun to grind corn.
There was a petting area at one of the displays. She touched the rabbits but spent the most time with the tiny baby chicks. |

Before the end of the day, Kyla was filthy! I forgot to mention that not long after we arrived, she insisted on "soaking her feet" in the fountains. I should have known that this would result in her completely submerging her lower half. From the waist down, she was soaked...but happy so we didn't care too much about it! |
