| October Shots Home Kyla has gone through a lot of changes this month. She not only transitioned from two naps to one nap....but she's also decided to ditch the nap completely most days. Luckily, she will still hang out in her crib and play for a hour or so. She's talking a lot and seems to hold on to new words and phrases. She will very clearly let you know what she wants and has been known to throw the occasional fit when she doesn't get her way. In fact, she threw her first public fit for me this month - right in the middle of the mall! She still loves her books and shows (Dora, Diego and Sesame Street). Play-doh is always a favorite and she still enjoys coloring and painting. She will identify some letters and numbers, but it's not consistent. She recognizes her name in print, though. I'm always surprised by that one! |

| Kyla has a very special relationship with the cats. I'd say she thinks of them as friends or siblings at this point. She likes to pet, kiss and hug them. When she finds one of their toys, she will hunt them down to present it to them like a little gift. Chovie has some good hiding places so she's mostly all over the Doot. She also likes to take care of them by collecting "food" when we're outside. Before she comes in, she picks up a small collection of items (usually rocks or acorns). She hauls them up to their food bowls every time. She's very proud of this. If they're around, she makes it a point to say "doot eat" while she's serving up her grub! | |

| Sadly, it's no longer warm
enough to swim here. I miss it! It's been really comfortable,
though - we try to get outside whenever we can. We started attending
"Trailtime for Toddlers" at the Bluebonnet Swamp Park once a week.
We also visit the neighborhood playgrounds.
Notice that we're actually starting to wear pants. The first "chilly" day here, Kyla and I were still in sandals and short sleeves. People were asking us if we were cold! Hahahaha...no, I've been cold - and this ain't it! |

Her eating could be worse - but it still drives me crazy! She's all over the place.....one day she's big on bananas, the next day it's black beans, the next day it's nothing but goldfish crackers! I try to keep a good variety coming her way and offer lots of healthy snacks and meal alternatives - so she hopefully still gets a good balance throughout the day. Her first appointment with her new pediatrician is in a couple weeks. This is her 2nd year checkup. Her weight and height seem to be pretty normal, but I guess I'll have a better idea after that. These are some shots of her trying to rally the Steelers while munching on carrots - although I think she actually ate very little of them. They were mostly "spoons" for the ranch! |
