Weekend in New Orleans
Home

Because the grandmothers were flying out of New Orleans, we thought it would be fun to finish out the visit with a weekend there.  We stayed at a nice Homewood Suites in the Central Business District.  It was a great setup for staying with Kyla - and right down the road from a popular restaurant, Mother's Restaurant.  We had an awesome dinner there and highly recommend the bread pudding!

The next morning, we went to the French Quarter and took a streetcar along the river to Jackson Square. From there, we toured in one of the mule-drawn carriages

Our tour guide was Charles and our mule was Charlotte. He gave a great tour with stories along the way.

After the carriage ride, we stopped along the river to hear Dr. Saxstrom play his saxamaphone.  Kyla was shy at first but also very interested.  She kept saying "song" (which is really cute!)

We walked around and ended our morning with big frozen Hurricanes in 'go-cups'.  Brent and I walked back down to the French Quarter later in the evening for another drink and some people-watching.  We plan to take a ghost or voodoo tour during our next visit.
