Day 3
Punga Cove Resort to Portage Hotel
20km (~12 miles), 6 hours

This marked my longest and most strenuous day.  The terrain today was mostly made up of straight-up, steep inclines - which included steep descents, as well.

I went through the Kenepuru Saddle and then walked along  the ridge between the Kenepuru and Queen Charlotte Sounds.  Most of the views were of the inland waterways that are made up of a system of drowned river valleys.  The river valleys were flooded by the sea after the last ice age.

The Kenepuru Sound is known for its farming of the Green Shelled Mussel.  The floating buoys can be seen along the track - although you really can't see them in my shots. These mussels are exported by the tons throughout the world.

My shots of the Sounds from Day 3 - I'm sure you'll think they all start to look alike but I can tell you that each looked very different to me...

My accommodations tonight were just OK - a hotel with great views...but a hotel nonetheless. I was spoiled by my chalets - plus, this resort was accessible by road which meant I was with many families starting their holiday vacations.....screaming babies and all.
