Te Anau
January 7th

We got into Te Anau yesterday and are staying at a campground right across from the lake.  It's a beautiful little resort town which is a starting point for a lot of the major tracks and the Milford and Doubtful Sound areas.  We spent our first morning on the Te Ana-au Cave Glowworm tour.
This trip was much less strenuous than my last glowworm viewing.  We took a boat ride across Lake Te Anau to the caves which were about 30 minutes away.  The Te Anau Glowworm Caves are the lower section of the Aurora cave system which lies within Fiordland National Park.  From there, guides took us through in boats and along walkways to view the worms.  They were everywhere.  Again, this tour didn't allow photography because it "turns off" the worms...but we got a couple of nice shots of the lake anyway.
